Homemade flour tortillas are easy to make with just four simple ingredients. Plus, they taste better and are better for you! None of the seed oils, fillers, and preservatives that are so common in store bought tortillas.

These homemade flour tortillas are made with butter, making them flavorful and giving them a soft and supple texture. They are a favorite in our home, from breakfast burritos to quesadillas to sandwich wraps to enchilada casserole.

Although this is a very simple and easy recipe, it does take some time to roll the tortillas out and cook them one by one. It does go faster if you have two skillets hot to cook them. I often make a double batch and freeze half for later. This way I can thaw them anytime and have fresh tortillas.

Freeze them in a sealed bag for up to a few months, although they never last that long!

Roll the dough out with a rolling pin, flipping it between alternate side rolls, until you have an 8-10 inch round. The tortilla should be very thin – as thin as you can roll it without tearing it.
