Is there anything better than homemade biscuits and gravy on a slow weekend morning? This Homemade Breakfast Sausage Gravy is so simple and delicious, it’s sure to be a hit!

Bulk breakfast sausage is browned then made into a delicious creamy gravy with half & half and chicken broth, thickened with flour. Who knew homemade could be so simple?! Pair it with my Easy Sourdough Drop Biscuits for a hearty and delicious brunch or breakfast.

Bulk breakfast sausage – I prefer mild breakfast sausage. If you’re having trouble finding this at the grocery store, try your local butcher shop.

All purpose flour

Chicken broth – any kind of broth will work. I prefer homemade bone chicken bone broth.

Half & half

Salt and pepper

How to Make Homemade Breakfast Sausage Gravy

Heat a large cast iron skillet over low-medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned, breaking into small chunks with your spatula as it cooks. Drain grease if necessary, but leave a couple tablespoons in the skillet.

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth

  • 1 1/4 cup half & half

  • salt and pepper, to taste
