Cold and flu season is upon us, and sometimes you just need a soothing hot drink to relieve a sore or scratchy throat. This simple, natural recipe is a quick and easy solution to the cold and flu blues. With a few simple ingredients, your sore throat will be feeling better in no time.

If you don’t have a scratchy throat and are just looking for a nice hot drink for a cold day, this is also a great recipe for that!

What You Need To Make This Recipe

All you need is some boiling water and a mug, and a few simple ingredients:

Freshly squeezed lemon juice

Raw apple cider vinegar – ACV with “the mother” is best

Raw honey

Salt – my favorite salt is Redmond Real Salt

Sore Throat Remedy Ingredient Benefits

Lemon juice – high in Vitamin C, important for fighting infection and boosting immune system. Packed with nutrients and has antibacterial and antifungal properties.

Raw apple cider vinegar – ACV has antibacterial properties and can help remove throat irritants.

Raw honey – Honey is well-known for it’s ability to soothe sore throats and relieve coughs. It also contains antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. It is also a prebiotic and has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.

Salt – natural salt (not table salt!) contains trace minerals and electrolytes, helping with hydration.

How to Make This Simple and Natural Sore Throat Remedy

Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and honey to a mug.

Pour 12 ounces freshly boiled water into the mug and stir. Let cool to drinking temperature and enjoy!

Ingredients

  • Juice from 1 lemon (about 2 tbsp)

  • 1 tablespoon raw apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon raw honey

  • Pinch of natural salt (optional)

  • 12 oz freshly boiled water

Directions

  • Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, and honey to a mug.
  • Pour 12 ounces freshly boiled water into the mug and stir. Let cool to drinking temperature and enjoy!

Notes

  • Feel free to add more or less honey to adjust the sweetness.
