These sourdough brownies are one of my family’s favorite treats. Dense and fudgy with a generous dose of chocolate chips sprinkled throughout – if you love chocolate, you will love these brownies!

What You Need to Make Sourdough Brownies
Although you can use a stand mixer for this recipe, I actually prefer to mix them by hand. Less equipment, less cleanup. You only need a few simple kitchen tools to make this recipe.

Melted butter
Granulated sugar
Eggs
Vanilla extract
All purpose flour
Unsweetened cocoa powder
Salt
Sourdough discard

How to Make Sourdough Brownies
First, preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8×8 glass baking dish and set aside.
In a large bowl, stir together melted butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; stir well to combine.

In a separate bowl, stir together flour, cocoa powder and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and mix well.

Fold in the sourdough discard and chocolate chips, making sure the mixture is combined well and there are no streaks of discard left. The batter will be thick.

Spread batter in prepared baking dish, smoothing out the top. Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes, until the middle is set. Cool completely before cutting.

3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
