Fire Roasted Green Chile & Black Bean Chili Recipe
Fire Roasted Green Chile & Black Bean Chili is a hearty and delicious variation of classic homemade chili that’s sure to please!
Chili is one of those go-to comfort foods. It’s easy to throw together, tastes delicious, and is hearty and filling. My favorite part about chili is that it can be made early in the day and kept warm for a quick weeknight dinner. The flavors really do just keep getting better as it simmers all afternoon.
I made this recipe when I was looking to change it up from the usual classic chili or Slow Cooker Venison Chili I make. This chili is made with ground beef, onion, garlic, fire roasted green chiles, black beans, fire roasted tomatoes, green chile salsa, and spices.
Ways to Serve
Serve this chili as you would classic chili. One of the great things about chili is that it’s a pretty versatile dish. It’s a tasty side dish served with trip tip, or as a topping on hot dogs or baked potatoes.
If you’re serving as a main course, it’s delicious topped with shredded cheddar cheese, sour cream and green onions. Serve with corn bread or sourdough bread and a side salad.

How to Make Fire Roasted Green Chile & Black Bean Chili
Preheat your Dutch oven on the stovetop over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until done. Drain grease if desired, but leave about a tablespoon.
Add the chopped onion and cook until soft. Then add garlic and cook another minute or so, until fragrant.
Stir in the remainder of ingredients – black beans, fire roasted green chiles, fire roasted tomatoes with green chiles, salsa, chili seasoning mix, water, salt and pepper.
Bring to a simmer, then cover and reduce heat to low. Cook at least an hour, stirring occasionally. If the chili gets too thick for your liking, add a little bit of water or bone broth to loosen it up.
